Stoicism and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Combined

ChatGPT has generated a nice little essay that is based on a syllogism, which I provided, that contains the "core beliefs" of Stoicism.

Essay: The Moral Philosophy of Stoicism by ChatGPT

In CBT a Daily Thought Record consists of three catagories: Automatic Thought; Cognitive Distortion(s); and Rational Response. In the DTRs below, the third category (RR), is based on Stoic "core beliefs."

10:45 am  "You idiot." Labelling. You made that mistake in the past, so it"s now indifferent to you.

DTR 2023 06 05

9:30 am The coffee filter collapsed. This is always happening to me, and that's bad. Overgeneralization. That event happening is not in my complete control. So it is not bad, merely a dispreferred indifferent.

10:05 am Walgreens called to say that I have four more days to pick up my prescription, and that is good. All-or-nothing thinking. External events are never good or bad. So, this event is not a good for me, but merely a preferred indifferent.

11:20 am "I got one answer wrong, and that's bad for me." All-or-nothing thinking; Discounting the possitve.
But I got the other two answers right. Giving one answer which differs from Dr. Burns' is not a bad, but a dispreferred indifferent.
